| Holiday Geek Gift Guide 2011: Action Figures and Collectibles |

Put on your coats and caps, everybody! There’s pine needles on the living room floor, snow on the ground, and a scent of cinnamon in the air. Your dogs and cats are tearing apart wrapping paper, your family’s in town and you can’t stop drinking eggnog for some reason. That could only mean one thing, folks, it’s the nondescript religious holiday season! And that means that it’s time to go into credit card debt so that you can show those closest to you that you care, you know? And to make it a little bit easier on you guys, we here at Geeks of Doom have been shoveling our driveways so that we can deliver to you this, 2011 The Holiday Geek Gift Guide! The best gifts possible for the geeks on you gift-giving list! Our geek culture is swarmed with disagreements and differences, and that’s one of the greatest things about it. There is no real defining quality of us as a whole that can pigeonhole us into one singular category. Take comics for example, some of us love the big and bold antics of creators like Geoff Johns and Jim Lee, while others of prefer the slow and methodical pace of a Grant Morrison. And some of us can’t even stand superhero comics! And that’s fine. Some of us prefer Star Trek to Star Wars, and to be more current, there are still people that can’t stand Dr. Who! But if one thing could unite us, if there’s one solitary format that our culture can gravitate towards, it’s collectibles. Y’know, action figures, statues, original art from comics, poster prints. Things of that nature. Sure, not all of us are like that, but a strong, wide-spanning group of us love to collect things. It’s in our nature, so I’ve taken the time to provide several shelf-filling collectibles from across all of geek culture so that you can put these on your lists of things to buy for people you care about. Now, there’s going to be some expensive stuff on here, so make sure it’s someone you REALLY care about. We’re talking share the same bed kind of care about. Or, at least live in the same house. Is this getting too personal? Well, let’s move on, then!

| Marvel Cancels ‘X-23’ and ‘Ghost Rider’, ‘Black Panther’ and ‘PunisherMax’ To End |

It has been a bad couple of days if you are a low-selling Marvel comic, as the company put the axe to a couple of series, while two others were brought to their planned conclusion. Word came down Tuesday that Marvel was canceling X-23, the story of the young, female clone of Wolverine, as written by Marjorie Liu. That same day, word came down that Jason Aaron’s PunisherMax would be coming to an end, with the rumor originally being that the series was canceled with issue #22. However, Aaron revealed via Twitter that the series was coming to the ending he had planned for the book, and that it was just coming to an end, not actually canceled. Then on Wednesday, we found out two more series would be coming to an end, with the cancellation of Rob William’s Ghost Rider, and the ending of Black Panther: The Deadliest Man Alive (formerly BP: The Man Without Fear, and even more formerly Daredevil: The Man Without Fear). Again, many assumed Black Panther had been canceled, however, regular artist Francesco Francavilla said, also via twitter, that the series hadn’t been canceled, it was just coming to an end.
