Star Wars Tatooine

Over three decades ago, George Lucas gave Star Wars to the world, and in that movie there was a planet called Tatooine that had two suns, which of course was just absurd and ridiculous science fiction at the time.

Now, just in time for the release of the movies on Blu–ray, NASA’s Kepler spacecraft has discovered the first real–life circumbinary planet, which means it orbits two stars.

You can read more below, as well as check out a video about the discovery.

The Movie God   |  @   |

It’s gotten to a point where we may just not have a clue what’s going on with director Ridley Scott‘s return to science fiction, Prometheus, until we see it with our own eyes…much like was the case with Scott’s take on Robin Hood, which saw many strange rumors and rumblings lead us all over the place during production.

Because no one likes to be screwed around with when it comes to movie news — we all just want to know accurate details, not random rumors — we’ll try and ease it back on said rumors and keep it to only things that seem solid in regards to Prometheus from here on out. That said, those of you who have been closely following this movie’s progress should be interested in hearing this last bit of he said, she said.

By The Dude Dean

Last November 17, I saw a storm coming, and I started Save Stargate Universe on Twitter and Facebook. Last Month SyFy moved Caprica and Stargate Universe from Friday night to Tuesday night because Wrestling was more important than Sci-Fi. SyFy really didn’t market this change, but I saw it for what it was. First Caprica got the axe and within one month both shows were canceled so that SyFy Channel would have more programming room for Wrestling.

In the last week the growth of Save SGU has been strong and steady. We are now over 4200 strong. But now, we’ve got to go to the Dark Side of the Force for some help. Two days ago, I came up with the idea to Wish @DarthVader a Merry Sithmas after seeing a tweet from him poking fun at SyFy.

Darth Vader tweets about SGU

Watch Now: ‘Rift’ – A Short Film With An Eerily Timely Sci-Fi Theme

2010-03-31_RiftThe Large Hadron Collider is a machine that essentially smashes subatomic particles together so scientists can study the outcome. The 15-year-old project has a total cost of $10 billion and has been plagued with problems that have prevented it from operating as intended.

As of March 30, 2010, scientists working on the project had something to rejoice about as the machine was able to make subatomic particles collide head-on at energies far greater than have ever been achieved before.

And rejoice they did, very excitedly and in a few different languages as anyone who was watching the live stream provided by the European Organization for Nuclear Research, CERN.

Personally I understood about 15 percent of what was being said during this stream, but that’s probably a generous overstatement on my part. Still, there are others who would either be bored to tears with the thought of watching it or (if forced to watch) comprehend even less than I.
