| 10 Favorite Moments From Comic-Con 2013
San Diego Comic-Con can be one of the greatest and worst experiences you can have. There’s insanely long lines, terrible food, and overcrowding, but if you can brave through it, you’ll be rewarded with some amazing footage of upcoming movies and TV, breaking comics, movie, and TV news, and exclusive convention collectibles and swag, as well as being surrounded by over 100,000 fellow geeks as you all converge upon the welcoming streets of San Diego. It’s not for the faint of heart, but if you embrace the experience, chances are, you can have the time of your life. There was a lot of fun things happening this year in and around the convention center, including fantastic panels for the X-Men and Marvel movies, as well as a secret Metallica concert. Here’s our 10 Favorite Moments From Comic-Con 2013.

“Better late than never,” he muttered to himself over and over while preparing this feature. One of the disadvantages of covering a convention as a member of the entertainment press is that you don’t have a lot of time to roam the convention floor as a fan. You usually spend a most of your time speaking with artists, writers, actors, directors, and producers about their current and upcoming projects and churning out articles for your readers as fast as you’re able. I’m not complaining. That’s a different kind of cool all on its own. As San Diego Comic-Con ended, after five straight days getting up at 3am and covering panel after panel, our team collapsed. Con-fatigue had won out. This is a very long-winded way of saying that when I loaded up my camera’s SD card today, I found a treasure trove of pictures that I was able to take on this past Sunday, when I finally had no interviews to conduct or panels to attend. Spending time among the friends, families, fans, cosplayers, comic creators, booth babes, and the industry innovators that make up the convention floor is always so much fun, and a kind of zen to me. I got to meet so many cool people, albeit briefly: parents cosplaying with their kids, groups of friends cosplaying as super groups, independent creators with unique ideas for comics and movies, other battle-fatigued reporters. It was most definitely my favorite day of the convention (well, other than getting to see Metallica perform at a club the size of my first apartment). Enough of my inane mewling. Here be a collection of pictures from that day. For some of the cosplay photos I even took the time to super-highlight them using my special mutant photoshop-y abilities. I hope you enjoy!

| Video: Watch Zack Snyder Announce The Superman/Batman Movie At Comic-Con
A couple of days ago at San Diego Comic-Con 2013 rumors turned to fact when it was announced that a new movie featuring both Batman and Superman was in fact on the way. But for most of us who were not able to attend Comic-Con, this was just a cool bit of news. For those who were in attendance, as is usually the case, presentation and crowd reaction make announcements and footage a much different experience. And now you too can see why. A video has been released of Man of Steel director Zack Snyder setting up the big announcement, which starts with actor Harry Lennix reading a line from The Dark Knight Returns and transitions into the logo reveal. Then comes the reaction, and it’s a good one. See the video below.

| Comic-Con Poster For ‘The Crow’ Reboot By Creator James O’Barr
The folks over at Shock Till You Drop have debuted a Comic-Con exclusive teaser poster for Javier Gutierrez‘s reboot of Alex Proyas’ 1994 film The Crow. The poster features the art of James O’Barr, creator of 1989’s The Crow comic book. Check out the poster here below. As the poster declares, The Crow will begin shooting in 2014. During the convention, STYD had a chance to speak to Gutierrez, who is directing the reboot for Relativity, and O’Barr, who reportedly recently came onto the project as a creative consultant. O’Barr’s involvement is definitely a good sign, considering how long the project has been in development hell. (You can look back in our archives to see how many directors, writers, and studios its been through already, as well as lawsuits and possible lead actors).

| SDCC 2013: ‘Divergent’ Panel With Shailene Woodley |
 |

Fans of the best-selling novel Divergent got a first look at the film adaptation today at San Diego Comic Con in Hall H. Today’s panel featured writer Veronica Roth, director Neil Burger (Limitless), and actors Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Miles Teller, Maggie Q, Ansel Elgort, Mekhi Phifer, Ben Lamb, Amy Newbold, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Zoe Kravitz, and Christian Madsen. Chris Hardwick was on hand as the moderator for the panel. If you’ve never heard of Divergent before, the story follows Beatrice Prior (Woodley) and her life in a dystopian Chicago where the world is split into different factions. In this world, everyone is divided into different societies based on qualities that they are looking for, such as bravery and selflessness. Beatrice, or Tris as she becomes known, chooses a different society than what the rest of her family belongs to. Based on the footage shown, the film looks to be part Harry Potter and part Hunger Games, while having its own personality. The footage shown at the panel was the first time anyone had seen anything from the film. In fact, director Neil Burger explained that they had just finished principal photography had just wrapped two days ago. The footage shown was filmed just so they could show it here at Comic-Con.
