Our sleeper agent at the BOOM! Studios dream factory smuggled out a trifecta of covers for another upcoming issue of Fanboys VS Zombies. Fanboys VS Zombies #10, which will be hitting newsstands in January 2013, features cover artwork by Jerry Gaylord and Dominike “Domo” Stanton. Previous FvZ covers have paid homage to geeky cultural mainstays like The A-Team, Escape From New York, Scott Pilgrim, and Back to the Future. | Exclusive: First Look At ‘Fanboys Vs. Zombies #9’ Covers From Boom! StudiosWe’ve got some exclusive covers here for you today, courtesy of BOOM! Studios. Check out three covers for BOOM!’s Fanboys VS Zombies #9, which is out in December 2012. Jerry Gaylord‘s cover is a take on Back To The Future; the other cover and its variant by Dominike Stanton give a nod to Escape From New York. Issue #9 is a great jumping-on point as Shane Houghton (Reed Gunther) takes over writing duties on the series. | Convention Round-Up: First Annual Comikaze ExpoAs a Southern California native I have been spoiled with comic and multimedia conventions. I have San Diego Comic Con to the south and Long Beach Comic Con to the north; the only thing I was missing was a convention at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Recently, my prayers to various Norse gods were answered in the form of Comikaze held at the Los Angeles Convention Center on November 5 and 6. When I envision a comic, horror, anime, and gaming convention in its first year, I instantly picture 7 to 10 guys in a very poorly lit motel conference room. Comikaze definitely had its up’s and down’s in terms of pure geek culture you couldn’t ask for something greater, but as someone who is at comic conventions year-round, there was some things left to be desired. I saw a lot of things I liked and a few things I was not so crazy about, so close your eyes (then open them) and let me take you on a journey of L.A’s Comikaze.
