Sony PS4 Announcement

The two rumors that have far-and-away made gamers the angriest in regards to Sony and Microsoft’s next-gen gaming console, have been the one that claimed the new systems would block any used games—effectively preventing you from purchasing used games cheaper, borrowing games from friends, and renting them, while also pretty much instantly putting companies like GameStop and GameFly out of business—and the one that would require you to always be connected to the internet in order to play a game.

With the announcement of the PlayStation 4 last night, Sony has been swarmed with questions as fans and media seek the answers they’ve been dying to get.

Nothing is official yet, but it appears that Sony wants none of the backlash that would come with these two rumors becoming a reality (and by “backlash” I mean “enraged mob with torches and pitchforks.” Do we still use torches and pitchforks? I mean “iPads and carpal tunnel braces”).

The console gamers of the world were abuzz today with high anticipation that Sony Computer Entertainment would be unveiling the much-rumored PlayStation 4 at a big conference they had planned that was streaming all over the world.

Shadow of the Colossus

If you call yourself a “gamer” and have never played Shadow of the Colossus, it’s time to get on that immediately. And as luck would have it, Sony Computer Entertainment has just released a special new remastered high definition collection of the game paired with another beloved title, Ico (which you can pick up here).

If you happen to be into metal AND games, well, then do I have a treat for you. YouTube user ferdk16 has put together a medley video of himself rocking out some of the music of Shadow of the Colossus on an electric guitar…and it’s pretty gosh darn epic.

You can check out the video by clicking on over to the other side now.

‘Heavy Rain’ Movie Adaptation Gets A Writer From ‘Deadwood’

A movie adaptation of the popular Sony Computer Entertainment video game, Heavy Rain, has been on the way for a little while, and now the project has hired a writer to begin work on the script.

David Milch, the man behind TV shows like NYPD Blue and HBO’s Deadwood, has been brought in to adapt the script for Unique Features and Warner Brothers, who have a first-look deal together.

The game is an impressive achievement, allowing for maximum interactions for players who will do everything from investigating a crime scene or question someone of interest to something as small as opening your car door and putting it in drive. This opens up a whole new level of realism for gamers to experience. But on top of the technical achievements in style and gameplay, Heavy Rain is a truly cinematic experience, making it another that could very well break the curse of video game movies. The other is (maybe?) the Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune movie.
