Disney and Lucasfilm have announced the official cast that will appear in Star Wars: Episode IX. And there may be a few surprises for some fans. In addition to the expected return of Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, and Kelly Marie Tran, Mark Hamill and Anthony Daniels have been tapped to reprise their iconic roles. But perhaps the biggest surprise of them all is that Carrie Fisher will appear via older unused footage from The Force Awakens. More on the story below.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Blockbuster movies are finally breaking the barriers, both on set and behind the scenes. Following yesterday’s news that WB hired Cathy Yan to direct the untitled Harley Quinn film, comes word that Victoria Mahoney has been hired as the second unit director for Star Wars: Episode IX.

Which is big news for those who know what kind of responsibilities the second unit director has, including shooting the supplementary footage, which consists of shots, stunts, inserts, and cutaways. More on the story below.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Starring Daisy Ridley

What Rian Johnson did for Star Wars in The Last Jedi was very interesting. It challenged what we knew about the universe, but it also rubbed people the wrong way. Not only that, but it offered a very polarizing answer to one of the trilogy’s biggest questions: who are Rey’s (Daisy Ridley) parents.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams

It’s beginning to look like the end of the Skywalker saga as Disney and Lucasfilm begin to launch new Star Wars trilogies, led by The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson, and franchise films from Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. Not to mention the spinoffs that step away from the galaxy’s most dysfunctional family. But before it can come to an end – if it truly is the end – we have to get to the untitled Star Wars: Episode IX.

J.J. Abrams returns to direct the film, taking the place of Colin Trevorrow. Abrams recently spoke a little bit about the status of the film, and said the plan was to begin shooting this summer. More on the story below.
