Stephen Colbert Reports The Untimely Death Of Jeff Goldblum On ‘The Colbert Report’

Jeff Goldblum

As we all know, this past week or two has been incredibly unfortunate with the passing of many beloved celebrities, including David Carradine, Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, and Michael Jackson. As depressing as all of this loss was, at one point in the chaos that occurred on the day that Fawcett and Jackson were lost, there were also various reports that actor Jeff Goldblum had also died after falling off a cliff in New Zealand while filming. This news never really seemed legit and we later found out that it was in fact false — but it had actually gotten as far as foreign news programs reporting that police in New Zealand had confirmed it as true.

Taking advantage of the opportunity to bring a little laughter to us at a time where many are mourning, Stephen Colbert decided to report the sad demise of Jeff Goldblum on The Colbert Report while touching on the journalistic accuracy of Twitter.

Stephen Colbert Tells Us Which Movies Are Destroying America; Chats With J.J. Abrams About ‘Star Trek’

Stephen Colbert

On a recent episode of The Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert listed off a few movies coming out soon that are a danger to America. To be fair, he also includes one movie that’s good for our country. After the silliness, Colbert heads over to chat with a one Mr. J.J. Abrams about his upcoming Star Trek venture.

I’m a huge fan of the Daily Show/Colbert Report weeknight tag-team, so on the rare occasion movies come into the mix, it’s always a fun thing to share with the masses.

While the dangerous movie bit is worth a few giggles, the real gem is the Abrams interview. Colbert asks a few decent questions and J.J. even talks about how he was never a Trek fan growing up (something that sets Trekkies on fire, I’m sure), but the real fun when Abrams is a sport and joins Colbert in a little Romulan skit.

Video: Stephen Colbert Predicts The Oscars Using The DaColbert Code

DaColbertWith the Oscars exactly one week away, people are starting to look at all of the nominees and make their professional picks. Most people who pick have seen most, if not all of the nominated films; some people pick just for fun, even if they haven’t gotten the chance to see the nominees (such as myself — yay me!); and some folks just have a fail-proof formula for figuring out the winners, even without a clue in the world as to how good they are.

Take for example, the host of the popular political comedy show The Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert. He’s well-known as the former correspondent to The Daily Show who branched off with his own popular show and for his very strong personality and hilarious outbursts on just about every hot topic going on. Mr. Colbert is one of those who have figured out his own little formula to identifying those who will take home the highly-coveted top prizes at the Academy Awards each year. He calls his formula The DaColbert Code.
