Since the 1970s, he’s been a critical darling and award-winning filmmaker whose style is breathtaking, heart-wrenching, and ethereal. The official synopsis is being kept mostly under lock and key, but what we do know is that Christian Bale stars as Rick, who is swept up in the lavish party lifestyle of Los Angeles and Hollywood. Best guess (after watching the trailer) is that Rick is going to have a soul-searching moment and try to escape the excess and depravity of the party life in hopes of redeeming himself, like an epic quest to become more “human” and less of the image of a man who isn’t even real. Sounds perfect for a Malick film, if you ask me.
