The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited

The console version of The Elder Scrolls Online (which was released on PC in April of last year), titled The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, is only a couple of short months away from release. And now that fans of Bethesda’s series know they don’t have to worry about a monthly subscription fee, excitement has no doubt increased quite a bit.

But there are still some things you’ll have to accept and work around if you plan to play on PS4 or Xbox One instead of PC. One such thing is the fact that, in announcing that a limited full-access public beta for the game is beginning tomorrow, ZeniMax Online Studios also revealed that the game will take up a whopping 65GB of hard drive space to run.

You can read more about the game’s massive size and check out some images below.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited

Zenimax and Bethesda Softworks have announced that their MMORPG set in the same world as the wildly successful Elder Scrolls series, The Elder Scrolls Online, will be transitioning this upcoming spring into a buy-to-play model. That means no more monthly subscription fees. Instead, users can pony up a premium fee that gets them DLC, in-game goodies, and other bonuses, but otherwise the game will made free to play online after initial purchase of the game itself.

This comes in anticipation of the games release on PS4 and Xbox One this June, and will follow in the same model. Players on PC who already own the game will no longer be charged a monthly fee as of March. Also, the game will be re-branded as The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited.

If you were looking forward to finally playing The Elder Scrolls Online on Xbox One or PlayStation 4 when it was scheduled to be released next month, or of you were looking forward to the first-person zombie game Dying Light, there’s a bit of bad news.

In a statement released today, it has been revealed that the Elder Scrolls Online will not be up to the standards set by developer ZeniMax Online Studios and publisher Bethesda Softworks in time, and it could take up to six months to get the wrinkles ironed out. This is no big shock considering many big games get delayed in order to ensure the quality is there, and this particular game is extra large. Not to mention the fact that MMORPGs running on consoles is still a new thing being figured out.

But still, this is a big deal just a month before launch when many people have already pre-ordered their copy of the game. For this, a special offer has also been announced to try to make up for the inconvenience. You can read the full statement, including what the special offer is, below.
