Bat Blox

Funko released images and preorder information for the upcoming Blox line of unique vinyl toys.

I’m a big fun of all of Funko’s line of vinyl figures including the bobble heads and more specifically the rounded, larger Pop! Vinyl figures that add a certain level of “adorable” that Funko has seemed to perfect on pop culture icons such as The Joker and Batman.

Duela Dent Statue

Normally, this is where I would link a great comic book deal from Thwipster, but in this case I’ll be linking a great statue deal from the company.

You see, Thwipster’s Tuesday comic book deal was the first volume of Matt Fraction and Gabriel Bá‘s Casanova: Luxuria, but within an hour and a half the 46 percent off trade paperback was sold out! There is however a great deal now on an awesome DC Direct PVC statue in the Ame-Comi line. Duela Dent as The Joker is one of the newer statues in the line, but it’s received a lot of praise. The statue stands at 9.5 inches tall, and features Two-Face’s daughter as a steampunk version of The Joker. The standard retail price is $70.00, but only at Thwipster, and only for Tuesday can you find it for a mere $36.99, which is 47% off for those of you who aren’t math majors.

The big surprise for comic boo fans at E3 this year was that Batman: Arkham City, the follow-up to the highly popular Batman: Arkham Asylum, would allow you to not only play as the Dark Knight, but as Catwoman as well. The Joker””who returns here and is once again voiced by Mark Hamill””was a playable character in Arkham Asylum, but only on the PlayStation 3, so this is exciting news for you Batman fanatics.

Along with the Catwoman news, the team at Rocksteady Studios came to the convention with a large amount of gameplay footage to show off, as well as plenty of new details on what you can expect from the expansive new game.

You can continue on below now to see two videos””the first revealing and discussing the inclusion of Catwoman while the second talks more about Batman: Arkham City as a whole.

DC Universe Online
Sony Online Entertainment
PlayStation 3/PC
Price: $59.99 with a $14.99 monthly subscription
Released January 11th, 2011

DC Universe Online is not the first superhero Massively Multiplayer Online RPG to be released, but it is the first to have a major license behind it and it has been widely anticipated by its audience. Thanks to this game, players have the chance to fight alongside some of their favorite characters as well as interact with other fans. The game doesn’t stray too far from the formula perfected by World of Warcraft, which is a good thing, because the setting is really the selling point of the game. Never before have players been able to explore a living, breathing DC universe in this way. However, the game is not without its flaws, and those looking to check it out may want to wait a few weeks while the inevitable bugs are worked out of the system.

The story sets up the flavor of the DC universe right from the start. Lex Luthor has traveled from a future in which he has defeated Superman, but met defeat at the hands of Brainiac. He has traveled back in time and released those most precious of plot devices, nanobots, into the atmosphere in order to turn ordinary people (the player) into an army of superheroes that can defeat Braniac. It doesn’t take a masters degree in DC history to keep up, but a lot of the fun of the game is seeing your favorite DC heroes and villains brought to life and fighting beside them. It also helps to know some of the creators behind the books, as many of the locations are named after famous writers, artists, and editors.
