Massive Metal Monday: Exumer “Catatonic”

Exumer is an old-school thrash metal unit from Wiesbaden in Germany. They were active from 1985-1991 during which time they released two highly influential albums. The band would break up and remain inactive until reforming for a one-off performance at the 2001 staging of The Wacken Open Air Festival in their native land.
In 2012, Exumer resurfaced with their first studio album in 25 years, the highly impressive return to form Fire & Damnation. Now, four years later, the band has delivered their excellent fourth album The Raging Tides. The record was released on January 29, 2016 via Metal Blade Records. If you’re a fan of classic thrash like early Slayer and Anthrax, be sure not to miss this record… it kicks some serious ass!
This week’s Massive Metal Monday spotlight song is from The Raging Tides and is called “Catatonic.” Check out the official video right here below. Crank it up and get your mosh on!

Megadeth
Dystopia
MP3 | CD | Vinyl
Label: T-Boy Records/UMe
Release date: January 22, 2016
After 20 or so years of churning out several mediocre (at best) albums, Dave Mustaine and company are back with their fifteenth studio album Dystopia. There has once again been a major shakeup in the Megadeth lineup as both guitarist Chris Broderick and drummer Shawn Drover exited the band in the wake of the previous album, 2013’s abysmal Super Collider. The two musicians continue to play together in a new band known as Act of Defiance. Their replacements are former Angra guitarist Kiko Loureiro and drummer Chris Adler who is pulling double duty with both Megadeth and his own band Lamb of God.

Black Metal Friday: Black Fast ‘I Conspire’

St. Louis blackened thrash band Black Fast are having a pretty good year. Formed in 2010 and taking their name from an extreme form of fasting within Catholicism, they have previously released a self-titled EP and an independent full-length, the widely acclaimed Starving Out The Light. Black Fast has parlayed the momentum into a deal with eOne Music who, on August 7th, issued the band’s first official wide release album Terms of Surrender.
Check out the official video for the album’s first single “I Conspire” here below.
