‘Where The Wild Things Are’ Trailer Debuts!

WTWTA

At last word, the trailer for Spike Jonze‘s Where the Wild Things Are was to show up in front of Monsters vs. Aliens, which is opening this Friday. Well, waiting is over-rated! The trailer debuted this morning on Ellen, and you can finally see it here.

As we hoped and dreamed, it really does look amazing. The Wild Things look exactly like the Wild Things that we saw as pictures in Maurice Sendak‘s children’s novel, only now, instead of flat on our page, they’re 100% completely alive and real. You get various glimpses at moments of anger, fear, happiness, and playfulness — all those great emotions that shine so brightly when you’re a child.

One thing I’m not so big on is the song that they used in the trailer. While the song its self may be good, it just didn’t work for me here with this trailer. I think I always just looked at all of the images and the test footage and imagined the trailer would have some kind of haunting and magical score behind it.

Nonetheless, the trailer is fantastic and must be watched immediately.

Things are getting real in the wold of Where the Wild Things Are… finally!

We’re used to seeing lots of images and trailers and various other marketing items to get us excited for movies. But now, this fairy tale project that we once thought we may never get to see is drawing near, and with recent word of a trailer coming soon, a bunch of new images have been released by Warner Bros., along with the birth of a new website. The website is just the title so far, but I’m sure more will be added soon.

This is the definitely the best set of images we’ve seen yet. There’s been some great looks from time-to-time, but here you get multiple great looks at the beasts and Max, and even Max at home with his mother (played by Catherine Keener).

The images come courtesy of USA Today, who was also able to chat with director Spike Jonze, who had some great things to say about the movie.

Click over for lots of quotes and better yet, some of the best images that you’ll see!

Just a day after finding out when we may see the trailer for Spike Jonze‘s Where the Wild Things Are (Read: ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ Trailer In Two Weeks!?), an amazing poster has been discovered.

The poster simply shows one of the beasts with his paw/claw around Max as he screams in frustration. The words “There’s one in all of us.” placed on top of the Wild Thing.

The picture/poster was discovered by a Spike Jonze fan site in Nickelodeon’s Nick Magazine.

‘Where The Wild Things Are’ Trailer In Two Weeks!?

WTWTAQuite possibly the best news in a long time — it seems like the trailer for the highly-anticipated Spike Jonze adaptation of Where the Wild Things Are will finally be seen in less than two weeks! A source wrote in to CHUD and explained that they had seen the full three-minute long trailer before a screening of DreamWorks new animated movie, Monsters vs. Aliens.

The news gets even better. The source even shared how the trailer looked, and let’s just say… it sounds really, really, really good.

Here is the main bit of praise. Be sure to click over to CHUD to read it all.

Try as I might, I can’t verbalize how I felt about the trailer beyond the most grandiose superlatives: ‘beautiful’ and ‘gorgeous’ and ‘breathtaking’, making me sound like Pete Hammond. The environments in particular (there’s a sequence of cutting between 4 shots of Max running through different environments that is absolutely magical) are a work of incredible vision, especially in light of the production methods Spike opted for. It does feel like a ‘kids movie’ (not pejorative): the trailer repeatedly made me about eight years old, over and over again. Unless I’m an idiot, and you’ll see yourself in a week or two, the finalized monsters are some kind of incredible technical achievement.

Wild ThingsNot too long ago, we shared a preview of what to look for in 2009 (see A Taste Of What The ’09 Movie Slate Has In Store). Although we are now a good little chunk into the big 2009, that doesn’t mean that it’s too late for more preview goodness, so when the opportunity presented itself we couldn’t help but do it again. Now the LA Times has their own collection of 2009 preview images, so naturally, we’ve found the newer and more exciting ones to share with you.

Because we used it in the first preview, I’ve included the brand new Where the Wild Things Are image as our main image, so be sure to check that one out as well!
