Iron Man director Jon Favreau posted updates on the movie’s MySpace group forum confirming details about the superhero’s famed suit and the recent photo revealed by USA Today of star Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark (photo at right; click for larger view).
The movie will contain both the gray suit and the gold and red. The light you see in the photo on Robert’s chest in the USA Today article is the chest piece glowing through his shirt. He is in captivity and forging the mask of the Mark 1. Both suits have been built practically by Winston Studios and are busily at work as we speak.
The director also briefly confirms details about filming locations, teaser trailers, and plans to attend the San Diego Comic-Con.
I just got back in town. The company has been on the road for many weeks. We started off in the mountains of Lone Pine which doubled for Afghanistan. We then moved to Edwards Air Force Base. We finally closed out the out of town work with Fontana, CA …
We are exploring ideas for teaser trailers, though no date has been decided. We are planning to attend San Diego Comicon. Bridges is bald and plays Stane. The movie is on schedule and could not be going better.
Iron Man is scheduled to hit theaters May 2, 2008.

Iron Man didn’t have a gray suit–War Machine did.

Hey.
A comics blog I’m not aware of? And it’s pretty?
Don’t find that on digg everyday.

@Logan – Tales of Suspense #39 was Iron Man’s debut. On the cover you can clearly see his Grey Suit which was his 1st suit!

Logan, have you ever seen/read the origin of Iron Man?
The ORIGINAL Iron Man suit WAS big, gray and clunky and has only ever been used in retelling of the origin of Iron Man for the most part. Remember, Stark was a captive and had to improvize the armor, so sleek red and gold was not available or a priority. He was trying to escape.

Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man ,… WTF?!?!>? That alone is reason enough not to bother seeing the film.
