Adult Swim To Start An Hour Earlier In 2011
space
Tom Cheredar   |

2010-02-18_Adult_SwimCartoon Network’s Adult Swim programming will begin an hour earlier (from 10 p.m. to 9 p.m. EST) starting in 2011, according to Turner Animation.

The additional hour of prime time is in response to Adult Swim’s high ratings that have dominated the 18- to 34-year-old male demographic consistently since 2007.

So what can we expect to fill that additional hour? No freaking clue at this point, but higher-ups at Turner all agree the Adult Swim brand certainly has room to grow. And that could mean several different things.

The network will probably pick up more syndication rights to pre-existing properties. The Cleveland Show seems like a shoo-in as does more Anime that could easily transition from most of the kid friendly programming on Cartoon Network’s 8 p.m. slot. Also, if you factor in all the “Brit Block” programs they’ve recently introduced, it’s clear that Adult Swim could squeak by without having to drastically alter its lineup come 2011.

The more “adult oriented” shows like Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Robot Chicken, and Squidbillies will still air later in the night, according to the Network.

Practicality aside, what would you like to see fill that extra hour of Adult Swim programming?

  2. Renew old shows like “stroker and hoop” and “frisky dingo”. Make seasons longer than 3 months! Seems like great shows like “The venture brothers” are on with new episodes for a very short time then we have to wait 16 months for a new season! Go on Adult Swim and vote for the new pilot episodes they have clips for running now. My fav is “snake and bacon”!

  4. The Office shouldn’t be on Adult Swim. But Cartoon Network is constantly moving toward live action which started by showing movies in primetime. They’re no longer “cartoon network” but some weird bastardization between them and FOX with all the Seth McFarlane shows being dumped there.
