Back in January, it was reported that Universal Pictures was eying Twilight star Kristen Stewart for the role of Snow White in their upcoming fantasy film Snow White and the Huntsman.
A few days ago, one of the producers for the Rupert Sanders-directed film, Palek Patel, posted to his Twitter account that Stewart was officially playing Snow White in the film, which is a retelling of the classic fairy tale. The producer also tweeted that Stewart’s deal was in final negotiations and would close next week.
It appears now that Patel has removed those tweets, one of which was in response to a query from a Kirsten Stewart fan, but screen captures of them are starting to pop up online.
As previously reported, Viggo Mortensen is in negotiations to play the role of the Huntsman, who, in this version of the fairy tale, becomes a mentor to Snow White, teaching her the survival skills she needs to defeat the evil queen who wants her dead. Charlize Theron is in talks for the evil queen role.
Snow White and the Huntsman is scheduled for a December 21, 2012 theatrical release.
Huntsman is one of three Snow White films currently in development. Last month, Relativity Media announced that Julia Roberts will be playing the Evil Queen character in their Tarsem Singh-directed adaptation, The Brothers Grimm: Snow White, while Disney is planning a complete reboot/retelling with Snow And The Seven.
Isn’t Snow White supposed to be prettier than the evil queen (Charlize Theron)? If so, they need to recast one of the parts. There is no way that Stewart is the better looking one. Come on.
