Aquaman TV Show Deep-Sixed!

The Geeks of Doom   |  @   |

Remember that AQUAMAN TV show in the works? Well, forget it. The much-publicized series, which had the tentative title THE REEF: THE LEGEND OF AQUAMAN, wasn’t on the CW’s fall schedule when it was unveiled today, and is lost at sea.

The pilot starred Justin Hartley as the aquatic superhero, with Lou Diamond Phillips, Ving Rhames, and Denise Quinones in supporting roles.

If you’re interested in what you might have missed, check out the trailer at You Tube.

  1. I’m a big Aquaman fan (an Aquafan?) and considering what WB did to “The Birds Of Prey”, maybe it’s a GOOD thing Aquaman isn’t gonna be on the air soon. The Aquaman episode of “Smallville” was pretty good, but writers are STILL struggling to give Aquaman a personality when he’s not in the water doing super-stuff. I liked the portrayal in “Smallville” of a young Arthur Curry as a dedicated environmentalist — but I can see how it would be tedious to have Aquaman fighting corporate polluters every single episode.

  2. Lou Diamond Phillips when has he been in anything remotely good? That should of told u that it was not going nowhere.

  3. I agree, I thought Aquaman on Smallville showed him with a sense of purpose and a sense of humor. And they portrayed him younger, which was better then making him in his 30’s. Well, just saw the trailer. It should at least have the chance for us to decide if we would like to see it. And I like what I saw in the trailer.

  4. I think it is a huge mistake to not include this show in the fall schedule. I have just downloaded and watched the trailer off of iTunes, and it is great! It has the potential to be a bigger success than Smallville, with a motion picture franchise at then end of a four or five season run. It doesn’t make any sense, and it would be a great way to do some cross-over episodes with Smallville. Hopefully the boss of the dumb-dumb pencil pushers will see that this is a mistake, and make it a late entry into the Fall Season. There is still plenty of time to get some episodes done in time for an October start date.

  5. Aqua man sucked anyways but we would like to see in the near future either a smallville rendition of Batman and/or Wonder Woman Starring Lucy Lawless as Wonder Woman or maybe even Green Lantern a spin off of Charmed would even be a nice .

  6. I saw the pilot, and I was surprised. It was actually very good. I’m sad it didn’t go anywhere. I was excited about seeing Denise Quinones (she was Miss Universe 2001), and Lou Diamond Phillips is a good actor, but he has bad luck choosing roles. This was a good choice. Tough luck, Lou.
