Original Star Wars Trilogy DVDs
(Courtesy of Twentieth Century Fox)Star Wars fans rejoice!
The classic Star Wars trilogy in its unaltered theatrical format is available today on DVD. It marks the first time the original movies are being sold as individual DVDs.
Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment have packaged the original Star Wars (1977)
, The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
, and Return of the Jedi (1983)
, as individual two-disc sets along with their respective 2004 digitally remastered versions (which differ slightly from the 1997 theatrical Special Editions).
Fans who’ve never seen the unaltered originals will finally get to experience the then-pioneering motion control model work that created the attack on the Death Star in Star Wars (and that’s STAR WARS, not Episode IV: A New Hope!); back intact for Jedi is Sy Snootles?s boogie tune ?Lapti Nek? and the upbeat Ewok celebration song ?Yub Nub? ; and among other things, Han Solo shoots first!

(Courtesy Lucas Arts)This release, which is being offered in both widescreen and full screen editions, will only be available for a limited time from September 12 to December 31, 2006. The new packaging features artwork reminiscent of the poster design from the original theatrical campaign and was done in the photo-montage style of the 2004 special editions DVD release.
Also available today is LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy
video game, a whimsical action-packed sequel to the 2005 best-selling prequels video game, LEGO Star Wars
.
