| Bytes: Scooby-Doo Animator Dies |
- Iwao Takamoto, the animator who designed the cartoon canine Scooby-Doo as well as characters on such shows as THE FLINTSTONES and THE JETSONS, died on Monday after suffering a massive coronary, a spokesman said. He was 81. [Link]
- Director Rob Zombie, who’s helming the HALLOWEEN remake, said the design of the Michael Myers’ mask “looks perfect.” Also, the cast is shaping up with Dee Wallace Stone as Cynthia Strode, Malcolm McDowell as Dr. Loomis, and Tyler Mane as the adult Michael Myers. [Link]

- M. Night Shyamalan has signed a three-picture deal with Paramount to write, direct, and produce a live-action film version of the animated Nickelodeon kids’ TV series AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER. [Link]
- James Cameron will write and direct the scifi epic AVATAR, which is being considered as a potential film franchises. Sam Worthington has been cast in the lead role of Jake Sully and Zoe Saldana (PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL) will play his love interest. [Link]
- Tori Spelling will guest-star on the January 11th episode of The CW’s SMALLVILLE.
- Brittany Murphy, Ryan Gosling, Giovanni Ribisi, and Anjelica Huston will appear in the adventure-fantasy-comedy THE OTHER SIDE, which marks the big-screen writing and directing debut of veteran producer and story editor David Michaels. [Link]
