Visitors can take a free preview tour of the Park that’s opening next year in Myrtle Beach, SC.
The interactive preview center for the Hard Rock Park opened to the public yesterday at the Park’s future site in Myrtle Beach, SC.
The preview center, dubbed The Hard Rock Park Backstage Tour, will be open through the end of 2007 at no cost to visitors. It’s is located in a 7,000-square-feet facility that’s divided into six interactive rooms that represent the various “rock environs” within the Park: All Access Entry Plaza, Rock & Roll Heaven, British Invasion, Lost in the 70’s, Born in the USA, and Cool Country. (For more information on the park sections, see Hard Rock Park To Give “˜Backstage’ Preview.)
Each room showcases several major rides and attractions and are outfitted with various pieces of memorabilia that will be incorporated into the Park. Highlights include:
- A model of the Park’s signature roller coaster, Led Zeppelin – The Ride, displayed in Rock & Roll Heaven, and features a brief video simulator of the ride with binaural sounds creating a life-like sensory experience for visitors. [Led Zeppelin – The Ride is a steel roller coaster ascending over 150 feet with loops and inversions and features the song “Whole Lotta Love,” which the band members chose for the ride themselves.]
- Follow the yellow shag rug that leads the way into the Lost in the 70’s room. Then, on to a swirling walk-through vortex, which serves as a mind bending portal to British Invasion where visitors will have the opportunity to check out, and even win, an actual “shagadelic” MG decked out in the Union Jack.
- True to its name, Cool Country showcases how Country rocks! Featuring a real ice sculpture of a Rock-a-billy guitar, a glimpse of the featured indoor ice skating show, Country on the Rocks, along with a sneak preview of the spooky Midnight Rider rollercoaster.
- Born in the USA offers visitors a chance to peek in on a rock recording session, see the jacket worn by Madonna on the cover of her album Music, and boasts the infectious “Live Mic” stage, where guests can step up and sing to a stadium of thousands of screaming fans.
- Featured in the final room, dubbed The Model Room, guests can view an intricate scale model of the Park, and listen to what’s soon to come from Hard Rock Park, thanks to an unprecedented HyperSonic sound system that focuses on individual visitors as they step into various sound beams, whispering details about the Park that only they can hear.
Hard Rock Park is a venture by Hard Rock International, which owns 123 Hard Rock Cafes and eight casino/hotels in 46 countries. The 140-acre theme park will include more than 40 attractions and is scheduled to fully open to the public in the Spring of 2008.
Advance admission tickets to the Hard Rock Park can be purchased at the Hard Rock Park official site for $46 per person (all ages).
