The official full title for the upcoming X-Files sequel was revealed today as The X-Files: I Want to Believe.
Not too much of a punch there (but infinitely better than Fast and Furious, I’d say!), but it does have meaning, according to X-Files series creator Chris Carter, who’s also the director and co-writer for the upcoming second feature film.
“It’s a story that involves the difficulties in mediating faith and science. ‘I Want to Believe.’ It really does suggest Mulder’s struggle with his faith.”
“I Want To Believe” is also the saying on the poster in Mulder’s office, which can be seen in the image here at right (click on it for a larger view; the poster is on the right).
… the movie will not deal with aliens or the intricate mythology about interaction between humans and extraterrestrials that the show built up over the years, Carter said. Instead, it casts Mulder and Scully into a standalone, earthbound story aimed at serious “X-Files” fans as well as newcomers.
The X-Files: I Want to Believe sees the return of as FBI Agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson). To read more about the film, which hits theaters July 25, 2008, see the source link below.
