We’ve been waiting for official confirmation on this bit of news, but there’s been nothing so far. Nikki Finke (who’s been known to be right about a great many rumors) is reporting that though not official, she’s been told that Jon Favreau has come to an agreement with Marvel to direct the sequel to the massively successful summer blockbuster, Iron Man.

This could be considered some of the best news of late as many were scared that recent disagreements might lead to Marvel replacing Favreau with someone else. In June, Favreau said he thought the Iron Man sequel’s April 2010 release date was unrealistic. At that time, Favreau, who had such great success with the first Iron Man, had not been asked to direct the sequel.

Let’s all hope this is the real deal and we’ll see an even bigger and better Iron Man 2 in 2010!
