On November 9, 2008, DreamWorks Pictures will release their mega-popular animated hit Kung Fu Panda on DVD and Blu-ray. The film will be released in your normal single-disc version, the Blu-ray version, and the “Pandamonium Double Pack,” which will have two discs, all sorts of special features, and even a companion/sequel movie called Secrets of the Furious Five.
Secrets of the Furious Five Synopsis:
Jack Black and Dustin Hoffman are back in an all-new Kung Fu Panda adventure! We catch up with Po after he has become the Dragon Warrior and he faces a new and daunting task, to teach Kung Fu to a group of eager bunnies from the Valley of Peace. Although Po is now able to face the fiercest of villains, he is completely out of his element in the classroom. So, he leans on the one thing closest to his heart; his Kung Fu fan-boy knowledge. He tells the kids how each of the five unlocked an important lesson which allowed them to become “excellent” and put them on the road to being the Kung Fu masters they are today. In the end, Po will see that through sharing these stories, he has taught the bunnies much more important lessons than he ever could have through Kung Fu exercises.
The companion movie is in the same vein as Anchorman and Get Smart; involving familiar characters/voices in a side story for after you watch the movie. Basically, it’s scenes cut from the movie or that never made it to the movie used for another purpose. Unlike Anchorman and Get Smart though, Kung-Fu Panda‘s companion movie won’t be feature-length. Either way, a fun little extra to include, if you ask me!

Naturally this is all in an effort to add to the $600 million Kung-Fu Panda took in worldwide.
