Director George Miller recently spoke to a news station in his homelands of Australia and discussed his new sequel, Mad Max 4. Miller talks briefly about the project, how he’s going about casting it, and also shows off some of the brutal post-apocalyptic vehicles that are being built for the movie. Unfortunately, they don’t really show the cars, but you do get a decent peek at them and an idea of what to expect.
Miller explains that the vehicles have to be incredibly high-performance to accomplish the shots that they need, but that they also have to be very safe for all the insane stunts that Miller promises will be used. Because of this, he says that it will take about a year to fully construct them all and that this extended time period is also to ensure that they raise the bar considering how much things have changed over the past 30 years in both action movies and film making in general. He then moves on to casting and admits that they’ve been “furiously” going about the process, but that he still has no idea who will be involved yet. One reporter even asks if Mel Gibson will be involved to which Miller responds “everyone’s an option.” It’s highly doubtful that Gibson will be involved, but it’s always fun to keep the hopes alive.

Miller directed all of the previous Mad Max movies. He also directed The Witches of Eastwick, Lorenzo’s Oil, and Happy Feet, which earned him an Oscar for Best animated Feature.

I have been waiting for him to speak publicly about this. I can’t wait. I am very excited.
I do hope however that he uses as little CGI as possible.
