Kevin McKidd is one of those actor who is incredible in all that he does, but isn’t really known among those who haven’t seen his works. The Scottish actor is best known as the main character of HBO’s Rome, Lucius Vorenus, but he’s been making a decent mark on more mainstream television series like Grey’s Anatomy and the canceled Journeyman. Next year, he will play Poseidon in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, but right now, he’s appearing in a less-visual role: Captain “Soap” MacTavish in the video game mega-hit Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Recently, McKidd spoke to the NY Post about his current prospective projects, and Call of Duty came up. He confessed that he had no idea that the game would be so popular, and that now they’re apparently toying with the idea of a movie based on the title. This comes as no surprise to anyone considering how popular the games are, and considering the genre, it could absolutely work well in movie form.
Here’s what McKidd had to say:
They were looking for a rough, Scottish actor in Hollywood they probably couldn’t get Gerard Butler, so they got the No. 2 Gerard Butler, me. I had no idea it would be so huge, and now there are talks of a feature film.
He was then asked if he would take part in the movie project, to which he replied
If the script is good, and Gerard isn’t available [laughs], then absolutely.
Is a Call of Duty movie something that excites you, or would this just be another war movie with a familiar title?
