Radical Publishing has halted production on its American Manga series Incarnate while they investigate claims of plagiarism against the series’ creator Nick Simmons, son of KISS founder Gene Simmons. Radical Comics launched the series, which Simmons wrote and penciled, back in August and released three single issues, which were to be sold later this year in a collected volume. Read their full official statement regarding the allegations here below. Earlier this week, accusations arose against Simmons on the GameFAQ forum stating that his artwork on Incarnate was copied from popular manga titles like Tite Kubo’s Bleach, which has sold over 50 million volumes worldwide. The Bleachness fan site posted side-by-side comparisons of the artwork from both titles to show similarities, and even superimposed the images. There’s also word balloons that show similar dialogue between the new comics. The image at top is one of the examples from the Bleachness site [note, we do not have either source material to verify the claims]: on the left is a panel from Bleach; the center is a panel from Incarnate; the image on the right is a both of these images superimposed.

IDW Publishing has launched this week their movie adaptation comic book series for JJ Abrams‘ Star Trek.
Issue #1 is on sale now of the six-issue miniseries, which will include exclusive scenes that were not in last year’s summer blockbuster, but were in the original screenplay. io9 has an exclusive 5-page preview of the first issue, which shows the deleted scenes of Spock’s birth, so definitely head over there and check that out. Star Trek director Abrams and screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have re-teamed up with writers Mike Johnson and Tim Jones and artist David Messina on the movie adaptation, all of whom previously collaborated on IDW’s Star Trek movie tie-in comic book series Countdown.

Federal Agent Alex O’Roark is on the trail of Herod, a vicious serial killer who monstrously mangles his victims, always leaving behind a calling card with Biblical references which O’Roark uses to try and track the killer’s next move. After nearly a year trying to track down the elusive killer, O’Roark finally accurately predicts Herod’s next attack aboard a city bus, where the Agent undercover as a civilian waits for the killer to show. When Herod does strike, O’Roark becomes the sole surviving victim of the brutal massacre. Strangely enough, O’Roark miraculously heals from his fatal wounds — claw-like lesions all over his body, as well as numerous fractures and broken bones — subsequently gaining seemingly superhuman abilities. It’s with these new abilities that the Agent finally has a fighting chance to take down the killer, but O’Roark slowly realizes that he has more to content with than just the damage Herod inflicts. The series name, Tracker, was a bit too generic to catch my interest and had I properly analyzed the cover of Tracker #1, I might have guessed that this series had a little something to do with werewolves. But, I was too distracted by Agent O’Roark’s snarling Wolverine-like demeanor to notice his claws and the gun he’s loading with silver bullets. Basically, I’m saying I walked right passed Tracker on the comic book racks when it debuted in last November.

Twitter was all abuzz yesterday with the news about possible actors in the running to play Steve Rogers/Captain America in Marvel’s live-action The First Avenger: Captain America movie [read Want To Know Who’s In The Running To Become Captain America?].
One candidate for the main role is John Krasinski, who plays the sarcastic jokester Jim on the NBC television series The Office. Krasinski has already branched out to the big screen with rom-coms, but can he handle a superhero role like this? That’s the big question. With the controversy of Krasinski’s possible casting, GoD contributor Bad Monkey of Blogography tweeted that if Krasinski gets the gig, his Office co-star Rainn Wilson should be Cap’s sidekick Bucky Barnes. Of course, this was met with plenty of hate, so for all those who scoffed at his suggestion, BM decided to have a little Photoshop fun to show us what Wilson as Bucky would look like. Check out the image here at top right and click for larger view.

A new Robert F. Kennedy biopic based on the Evan Thomas biography, His Life, is now on the way at New Regency with superstar Matt Damon attached to star. The film — which is currently untitled — will span a large portion of Kennedy’s life, including earlier days when all of the attention was on his older brother John F. Kennedy, to his rise up into the spotlight as a top political leader, and straight through to his assassination in 1968. The movie will be directed by Gary Ross and written by Steven Knight. Ross wrote and directed Pleasantville and Seabiscuit, and also wrote Big, Dave, The Tale of Despereaux, and the upcoming remake of Creature from the Black Lagoon.
