In case you’re not aware, a brand new chapter in the ultra-popular Fallout video game series is on the way, and it’s called Fallout: New Vegas. The game is a follow-up to 2008’s Game of the Year-winner Fallout 3, which was developed and published by Bethesda Softworks, which is one of the very best — if not THE very best — video game-producing brands on the planet today.
Bethesda is only publishing Fallout: New Vegas this time around, leaving the developing duties to Obsidian Entertainment, which has people who had a hand in making Fallout 2 way back in the day. The game will obviously take place in Vegas, bringing the title back to its roots…not to mention giving us the chance to do some post-apocalyptic gambling!
Many of the bigger video game titles that get released also offer a special limited Collector’s Edition of their game, which comes with lots of cool extras and collectibles from the game and making it the ultimate option for die-hard fans of a game or franchise. This game is no exception, and if you click on over to the other side right now, you’ll find a run down of what the Collector’s Edition of Fallout: New Vegas will offer!
Here’s the run-down of what you’ll get if you’re able to grab this limited copy of the game. Also, you can click the image above to grab a peek at it! I don’t know about you, but I love owning something small from these worlds that I spend so much gaming time in, and Bethesda is the best at it. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion gave you a Septim coin; Fallout 3 had Nuka-Cola bottle caps; New Vegas has poker chips, cards, and more. I’m not sure about the poker chips yet, but the other two were the game’s currency, and I assume that’s the same here.
â™ “Lucky 7″ poker chips. Each of the seven poker chips was designed to represent chips from the major casinos found on the New Vegas strip and throughout the Mojave Wasteland.
â™ A fully customized Fallout: New Vegas deck of cards. Each card in the pack has been uniquely illustrated to depict characters and factions found within the game. Use the cards to play poker, blackjack or Caravan, an original card game that was created by Obsidian especially for New Vegas.
â™ A recreation of the game’s highly coveted “Lucky 38″ platinum chip.
â™ A hardcover graphic novel “All Roads”, that tells the story of some of the characters and events that lead up to Fallout: New Vegas. “All Roads” was written by Chris Avellone, the game’s creative director, and created in conjunction with Dark Horse Comics.
â™ “˜The Making of Fallout: New Vegas’ DVD. This documentary DVD will contain exclusive video content, including interviews with the developers in which they take you from concept to creation and discuss topics such as story, setting, legacy of the Fallout franchise and more.
As you can tell, these special editions of the game are only getting cooler and more jam-packed as time goes on. And though usually pricey, that’s good news for us.
Fallout: New Vegas will be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC some time in the fall of 2010.
