The Movie God   |  @   |

Paranormal Activity

Paranormal Activity was one of the major successes of last year. The little independent horror movie was written and directed by Oren Peli, and only cost around $15,000 to make before Paramount Pictures acquired it and jazzed it up a bit for mass release. With the movie going on to make almost $200 million worldwide, a sequel was guaranteed before it was even spoken about.

Since then no time has been wasted, the movie is in production, and the first teaser trailer for Paranormal Activity 2 is now online for the world to see.

Click on over to the other side to check out the first teaser trailer for now.

The sequel is being directed by Kip Williams, who previously directed The Door in the Floor. Peli, who will be producing, is currently working on his next project, which will be called Area 51 and is supposedly going to use the same hand held home video-style that has made movies like Paranormal, The Blair Witch Project, and Cloverfield so popular and intriguing to audiences.

  2. i remember when this came out i kept hearing from my friends & just about everyone online how scary & terrifying this movie was, yet one thing i noticed was no matter how many reviews i read or raves i heard, nobody ever seemed to say anything that happens in the movie. no “you gotta see the scene where…” or “look for the part when…” nothing like that, it was all just “OMG it’s so scary you HAVE to go see it!!” time went on and i forgot all about it until a week ago i saw it in blockbuster so i rented it, thinking finally i’d see what all the fuss was about. well, now i know why nobody ever said what happens, it’s because NOTHING FREAKING HAPPENS in the entire movie! seriously, it’s been a week and i’m STILL waiting for something to happen. and to think i used to believe no movie could ever be more boring that Seven Years in Tibet.

  3. I felt the same way about the “Blair Witch Project.” Had more than a few friends tell me how insanely scary that movie was. I held out as long as I could until my mother was finally convinced that she had to see it. She NEVER goes to movies but raised my sister and I on monster movies and horror flicks so when she asked, I went along. To say that she has never wanted to go to another movie since then speaks of her disappointment. Nothing happened but “nothing” and a lot of hysterical swearing about nothing. The last few minutes were interesting but not worth tolerating the hour long build up. Without having seen it, that’s what I fear about “Paranormal Activity.” That it’ll be nothing but a waste of time. Too much hype and like Dax said, nobody has pointed out specifically what’s scary about it, which makes me fearful about lack of content. Maybe there’s a payoff at the end, like Blair Witch, but I don’t know that I want to sit through another hour just to get there. Can anyone point out what’s so scary about Paranormal Activity without giving away any major plot points? Or is it all atmosphere and no substance?
