The Movie God   |  @   |

Seasoned veteran actor Liam Neeson has joined the cast of Battleship, the movie based on the popular board game of the same name that sees players calling out locations in hopes of striking and sinking their opponents strategically placed fleet.

Neeson will play a Naval officer named Admiral Shane, whose daughter (played by model Brooklyn Decker) is engaged to a young officer played by lead Taylor Kitsch (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, John Carter of Mars). Also starring in the film is Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd (True Blood, Zoolander), who will play Kitsch’s brother, and pop star Rihanna.

The movie is directed by Peter Berg, who also brought us The Rundown and The Kingdom. It will tell the story of a naval fleet who finds themselves having to deal with an invading alien race who plans to mine Earth of its resources for their own use.

Battleship just started filming this week in Hawaii with plans currently set for a release on June 18, 2012.

The screenplay is written by Whiteout and Red scribes Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber.

  1. I’m convinced this movie is actually a big prank being played on the world by the internet.

That was a good one internet, but we know Liam Neeson wouldn’t be involved with this.

  3. Battleships and… aliens?? Whatever they’re smoking, DO NOT WANT. I wonder if Liam Neeson’s performance will be better than his rather cardboard one in the first new Star Wars movie, considering this will likely be a green screen CGI fest.

  4. Well, after this, we all know what’s next …

  6. I am sorry to inform you that yes, this movie is real, has Liam Neeson and Rihanna in it. I live on Oahu and one of my good friends is working as an extra. As of yesterday they were filming a seen at one of the largest soccer fields on Oahu. Also Andrea my extra friend said Rihanna complains (A LOT!!!) So there ya have it, the rumors are very much fact, sorry if this disappoints you, let’s just hope its actually worth all this time we’ve spent wasting on talking about it.
