It’s being reported that Paramount Pictures is officially developing a new movie with their sister station, Spike TV, based on the network’s popular series, Deadliest Warrior. The studio has set Night at the Museum director Shawn Levy and his 21 Laps Entertainment to handle the project.
In the series, legendary historical warriors face off to see which of them is the best of the best. In the episode, groups of experts representing the two warriors bring many different weapons that were often used in battle, and then complete tests on dummies, pig carcasses, and complex ballistic bodies, complete with skeletal structures, internal organs, and blood. The tests, while often shockingly messy and violent, enable doctors and specialists to study precisely which of the weapons would prevail in a real battle, and then a sophisticated computer program runs one thousand simulated battles using the input they incorporate to determine who the winner would be.
Some of the more interesting battles that have been presented so far include Spartans vs. Ninjas, Samurais vs. Vikings, Mafia vs. Yakuza, KGB vs. CIA, and some one-on-one historical figure battles such as William Wallace vs. Shaka Zulu, Atilla the Hun vs. Alexander the Great, and Jesse James vs. Al Capone.
All of this makes the news of a movie quite intriguing. There’s no indication of where they plan to go with the movie or what the storyline will be. You have to assume that time travel would have to be involved, but it will without question be interesting to see how they bring it all together and try to make a story compelling enough to lure movie-goers to the theater.
