ABC is now in the early stages of developing a new live-action television series based on the Marvel superhero, The Incredible Hulk.
The announcement comes as no surprise after ABC owner The Walt Disney Company acquired Marvel, leading to the birth of Marvel TV and hopes of bringing all of those superheros to your living room. And with years of successful feature film adaptations of all of these comic book heroes under their belt, why not try the series format.
Earlier this month is was announced that Warner Brothers TV was developing their own comic book television series based on Wonder Woman. Unlike most of the other superheroes, this came after years of failed attempts at adapting Wonder Woman into its own movie. The Hulk has seen two feature films make it to the big screen, with one from director Ang Lee starring Eric Bana being universally disliked and the other from director Louis Leterrier and starring Edward Norton thaw received a significant amount of praise.
This feels like only the beginning what we should expect to be wave of comic book characters being used to develop new TV shows, especially if these first ones find success.
The Incredible Hulk and Wonder Woman are a smart two titles to test the waters with; both have already had popular TV show runs in the ’70s and ’80s.’

Wow…this is the first stab at a live-action series based on a superhero in a while (not counting Smallville). When will Hulk ever see an end?
