In what might be one of the most violent Christmas specials of all time, the Winchester Brothers set out to rid the world of an anti-Santa. As the official description points out, the spirit has roots in pagan lore, and the writers used the pagan god Hold Hickar as inspiration for the evil in this episode. I find this very interesting because many of the pagan traditions have been adapted and are know used as modern day Christmas traditions. Also, the fleshing out of the younger Winchesters and their adventures is a welcome addition to this already outstanding episode. Highly recommended that you watch this episode!
Official Description:
It’s Christmas time and, as Sam and Dean investigate a series of murders where the victims have been pulled up through the chimney, Sam realizes they are dealing with a sort of anti-Santa, a demon with roots in pagan lore.
