Popular comic book creators Colleen Coover and Paul Tobin (Small Favors, Banana Sunday)are launching an all new series titled Gingerbread Girl. The story will first appear on Top Shelf 2.0, indie comic book publisher Top Shelf Comix’s free web comic venture. New installments of the story will appear on Mondays and Fridays culminating with the complete story being released in a hardcover graphic novel this Spring. Very little has been released by Top Shelf about the story. This is all they’ll say:
Gingerbread Girl is the story of one adorable and bewildering girl, Annah Billips, and the exasperated attempts by everyone around (boyfriends, girlfriends, neighbors, bystanders, passing animals) to figure out what makes her tick. That’s all we can tell you – for more, you’ll just have to read the story!
It’s exciting to see an indie publisher like Top Shelf embracing these new methods of getting great stories out to fans. Monetizing is a challenge for sure but the idea behind the web comic to graphic novel is a sound one. These are talented creators so go read the book for free and if you like it lets support Top Shelf and grab that graphic novel.
