Keanu Reeves Confirms ‘The Matrix’ Sequels In Development

A couple of years ago, I made a post discussing how a 4th Matrix film was inevitable. When the post was initially published, it was met with some skepticism from Matrix fans. How could there be another movie if Neo is dead? Is Neo actually dead? Keanu Reeves, in a guest of honor speech at the London School of Performing Arts University, has finally clarified that there are indeed plans for more Matrix films.
It should come as no surprise that there are plans for a fourth and fifth Matrix movie. Besides the fact that combined with merchandising and home media sales the movies are money-makers, the development of the 3D filming tech adopted by James Cameron and the recent release of Tron: Legacy (sequel to a movie that was one of many influences on The Matrix) make it a prime time for the Wachowski Brothers to reignite their Matrix saga. In short, it’s good timing.
Keanu Reeves confirmed the development during a Q&A session in London when he stated that the Wachowski Brothers have finished work on a two-film script treatment for The Matrix sequels. AICN posted the details of Keanu’s speech, in which they went on to say:
Says the brothers have met with Jim Cameron to discuss the pros and cons of 3D and are looking to deliver something which has never been seen again. Keanu stated that he still has an obligation to the fans to deliver a movie worthy of the title “The Matrix” and he swears this time that the treatment will truly revolutionize the action genre like the first movie.
The news and confirmation that new Matrix movies are in development is going to fuel a lot of mixed reactions from fans. For every fan that loves all three current films, there’s another who hates the sequels. It’s going to be interesting seeing the reactions as more news develops on the Matrix series.
Even though I was disappointed with Revolutions I’m interested to see what they will do with a 4th.

Come on…. 2 and 3 completely sucked. They had a good story going with the first one, and it should have been left at that.
Ever seeing the third one at the cinema, I have not watched any of the matrix movies since. And that will still be the case if/when the next ones come out. Won’t even be worth a download lol.
Hollywood movie formula:
Make movie
if success
ruin the story with shitty sequels
else
remake it
and so on.

two didn’t suck just the end, and three would have been good if they didn’t focus so much on Zion, they should have kept the war between Neo & smith with everyone connected and fighting helping Neo to save the world. They had ghost got out like a bit@h WTF? the fight between him & neo , and the second film, was almost just as good as Neo vs. Morphis SMHÂ
I absolutely love all 3 Matrix movies, ‘The Matrix’ was the first dvd I ever bought, after having all 3 on dvd a collector’s box came out with a Neo bust and all movies and bought that, after that I bought all 3 movies on blu ray. I really can’t understand why there is so much hate on reloaded en revolutions because I absolutely love those movies, the highway scene, the battle for Zion and the final battle between Neo and Smith, how is that not completely awesome?! I even love the open ending from revolutions so we can speculate if Neo is dead or will be reinserted into the Matrix. I looked around the internet to see if this news for a fourth and fifth Matrix is real and it can’t be found, just the same story about Keanu speaking at some school about it. The thought of two more movies is very exiting but also scary, it would be weird to see Neo without Trinity and Smith, why would he come back when there is no more war and Zion is save? (for now). I just hope that when they do it, they do it because they have something really awesome to show and tell the fans, something that is true to the original and get’s fans exited, if they do it just for doing it or for some extra cash I hope they don’t because I really love the existing trilogy.

Interesting. If they go through with this hopefully they can make good on the disappointment that was Revolutions.
