Neil Patrick Harris, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Join ‘The Matrix 4’; Jada Pinkett Smith In Talks To Return
|
 |

We’ve been hearing about a new installment in the Matrix franchise for some time now. Back in 2011 star Keanu Reeves said that sequels were being developed. Then in 2014 it was rumored that the next Matrix movies could be prequels. Then in 2017 came word that Warner Bros. was developing a reboot instead of sequels or prequels, which was followed a few days later by a denial of the reboot news from screenwriter Zak Penn, who had been hired to work on a new movie in the franchise at the time.
Things were quiet for a couple of years after that, but in August of this year it was confirmed that The Matrix 4 was finally becoming a reality with original stars Reeves and Carrie Ann Moss returning. Lana Wachowski, who wrote and directed the original trilogy with Lilly Wachowski, is also returning though it doesn’t appear that Lilly is involved at the moment.. And now, more casting has been announced. Last week Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was cast in the sequel, and this week Neil Patrick Harris signed on. Jada Pinkett Smith is also in talks to return.

Regal Cinema’s 4DX Movie-Going Experience: It’s Good While It Lasts

Movie theater franchises have been adding more and more immersive theater experiences to their screenings: There’s the ever-popular IMAX (in its various forms), AMC has the Dolby Cinema, and Regal Cinemas has launched a few new options with ScreenX and 4DX. I spent the summer checking out cinema chain’s answers to slumping attendance, focusing mainly on what 4DX has to offer.

‘The Matrix 4’ Becomes A Reality With Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Lana Wachowski Returning

The Matrix is still hailed as one of the best sci-fi actioners of all time, and its overwhelmingly huge success would eventually lead to two more sequels: The Matrix Revolutions and The Matrix Revelations – both of which paled in comparison to the original but were still just as successful.
Fans hoped that the stories would continue on in a fourth installment. Especially since the final Matrix film had an open-ended conclusion. And it looks like that is becoming a reality all these years later as reports confirm that Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Lana Wachowski are returning for The Matrix 4. More on the report below.

The New ‘Matrix’ Film Might Not Be A Reboot After All

Over the weekend, the Internet went crazy when word got out that The Matrix was being rebooted. In all fairness, something like this getting rebooted isn’t at all surprising considering studios want to revive certain successful franchises. But for a film to end the way it did, why even bother rebooting it when there is so much more story left to tell? So Zak Penn, the writer hired to write the next (or newest) chapter of The Matrix, took to Twitter to explain what he will be doing for the franchise.
Find out his thoughts on the matter and his “approach” to it below.

‘The Matrix’ Reboot Being Developed By Warner Bros.
|
 |

It’s being reported that Warner Bros. is in the early stages of developing a reboot of the sci-fi classic The Matrix. What exactly this means is unknown at the moment. It could be a new take on the story we’ve already seen unfold in the original trilogy, which consisted of the aforementioned classic original and its not so memorable sequels The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. Or perhaps it will be a new movie beginning a new story set in the same universe.
WB already has a writer working on the project and a star in mind, too. Zak Penn, whose credits include X-Men 2, The Incredible Hulk, The Avengers, Steven Spielberg’s upcoming Ready Player One, and creating the TV series Alphas, has been hired to write a treatment for the reboot. While Creed and Fruitvale Station star Michael B. Jordan is being looked at as a potential star, though the report states that it’s still very early in the process and there’s a lot of work to do first.

How ‘The Lion King’ Ripped Off ‘The Matrix’ (Video)

A new video is making the rounds of a high school student making a PowerPoint presentation in which he argues that Disney ripped off The Matrix in making movies such as The Lion King.
You might already be thinking to yourself “That student is an idiot and most definitely failed their project.” And you would be absolutely right, of course, had it been a real student. The video really comes from an Emerson College comedy group called Chocolate Cake City, as I found out after having watched it thinking the whole time it was notable high school cool kid Clid Samby. The skit is actually presented by Pierce Campion.
You can check out the video below.

Everything Wrong With ‘The Matrix’ (Video)

The folks over at CinemaSins are taking on The Matrix for their popular “Everything Wrong With…” series.
This is only for the first movie (though the sequels might be mentioned), which is incredibly popular and the narrator of the videos’ all-time favorite, but as they say, no movie is without sin.
You can see how many sins The Matrix commits below.
