Back when Nickelodeon purchased the rights to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise back in 2009 for $60 million, we knew that a new live-action movie and a CG-animated TV show based on the turtles was on the way.
We haven’t seen much from the movie yet, but not too long ago some footage and the first image from the upcoming animated series arrived online (you can see it at right). The reactions to that seemed to be mixed, many unsure how they felt about the new look. And uncertainty in the show grows a little bit more with the announcement that American Pie star Jason Biggs will be voicing Leonardo.
I don’t know about you, but I have a lot of trouble imagining Leonardo voiced by Mr. Biggs. Maybe it’ll work out in the end, but it is surely a strange casting just going off initial impression of the news.
It’s not yet know who else will be voicing roles in the show, which will debut in 2012.
What do you think of how this show is shaping up? Excited to check it out or just holding out hope that the movie will be much better?

Who knows. He may break out as an impressive voice actor. After all, who really could have foreseen Luke Skywalker becoming arguably the best Joker?

I like to think if we weren’t so familiar with his voice it could work. But the second you hear it your brain will instantly jump to intimate pastry moments.
