The casting party for the upcoming movie adaptation of Suzanne Collins‘ hugely successful book, The Hunger Games, just never seems to end.
We’ve heard about a bunch of actors being cast so far, namely the leads in Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth as Peeta and Gale, and Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket.
But it doesn’t end there; some new names have jumped on board. It’s being reported that Woody Harrelson has signed on to play Haymitch Abernathy, mentor to Katniss who won the Hunger Games many years before. Joining him as new additions are Stanley Tucci — always a great addition to any movie he appears in — playing the role of the host of the games, Caesar Flickerman, and Wes Bentley (American Beauty), who will be playing head gamemaker Seneca Crane.
In addition to all of the bigger names that have joined the cast, a pile of young actors have also been cast as the two combatants for each of the 12 districts, who are forced to send two teenagers to compete in the games, where they’ll fight to the death until only one remains.
Most of the actors are newcomers, but the most recent additions are fairly recognizable. Alexander Ludwig and Isabelle Fuhrman have also joined the cast, and they’re set to play District 2 tributes Cato and Clove. Ludwig — who was being looked at for the role of Peeta at one point and was even a fan favorite for the male lead — has been seen in movies like The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising and Race to Witch Mountain, and Fuhrman is best know for her creepy work as Esther in the horror flick Orphan.
