While I may not be a huge TV nut, one thing that really gets this writer’s nerd wheels spinning is behind-the-scenes featurettes. Better yet? Ones looking at the special effects of what may be one of the most talked about TV shows around, Game Of Thrones.
A video of the some of the special effects is now online that takes a look at the work done on the show, and it is quite an interesting short bit of footage. Check it out here below. (Note, the video contains key scenes from Season 1 of the show, so if you’re not all caught up, be mindful of that.)
I myself am not immensely familiar with the show or the books, but I have seen quite a bit of footage from the series, and it’s absolutely gorgeous. BlueBolt is the team behind the effects for Thrones, and has created some of the more beautiful effects that TV has to offer. Housed over at HBO, the high quality of these effects should really come as no surprise, but hopefully the budget for this series won’t get too high, as that is also something that has occurred occasionally over at HBO to bring a series to its end (just look at Rome and Deadwood).
The show was picked up for a second season after the premiere of season one, so all signs point to this being a long-standing gem on HBO’s slate. What do you think?
