The first images for Borderlands 2, the upcoming sequel to Borderlands, will appear in next month’s issue of Game Informer Magazine. We are going to be treated to 12 pages of exclusive content and screenshots, including how they are going to be changing the mission system to give us a better story. Thank god, because while the first game was fun, the story was absurd to put it lightly.
Borderlands 2 will bring us back to the fictional planet of Pandora. Even though it’s the same planet, there is said to be more diversity in the environments. This is something I thought Borderlands did well. The locations you went to had quite a bit of variety, and I’m excited to see how else they mix things up.
The original Borderlands was a good game. If Gearbox software makes the kinds of improvements it seems like they are trying to, while keeping the same visual style and interesting characters, Borderlands 2 sounds like it will be a great game.

The environment variety in Borderlands was God-Awful! Everything was a brown desert! They should definitely open up the World to new environments like jungles or arctic regions. (looking at the image above, looks like we might gt the arctic regions!)

I enjoyed the HELL out of Borderlands and will buy the sequel with zero hesitation. “Everything was a brown desert?” I don’t think so. While there primary missions were set in a desert area with mesas, mountains and plains, there was plenty of variety. The island of Dr. Z and General Knoxx expansions added lots of new terrain too. And the missions leading up to The Vault had plenty snow and ice. To say that there wasn’t variety in the environment is just flat wrong.
