Zachary Quinto, star of the once–popular–but–now–canceled Heroes and J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek, and his production company, Before The Door Pictures, have announced that they are partnering with Sunchaser Entertainment and German producer Christian Arnold-Beutel to produce the horror title, The Banshee Chapter.

The movie is described as centering on a “young, female journalist who follows the mysterious trail of a missing friend who had been experimenting with mind-altering chemicals developed in secret government drug tests. A fast-paced blend of fact and fiction, the film is based on real documents, actual test subject testimony, and uncovered secrets about programs run by the CIA.”

Blair Erickson penned the screenplay for The Banshee Chapter, and will be making his feature film directorial debut on the film.

Of the announcement, Quinto said “We are excited to branch out in our storytelling. We’ve produced a movie about the financial crash and an innovative, grounded romantic comedy. The Banshee Chapter is an opportunity for us to tackle another film with its roots in reality, but through the lens of horror.”
