Welcome to the future, comic book fans! Image Comics announced on Wednesday that it would be the start of their day-and-date digital initiative that brings the majority of their top-selling catalog to digital platforms on the same day that their comics hit brick and mortar stores.
Their comics will be available on the comiXology powered apps for mobile devices, as well as through the browser based sites of comics.comixology.com and comics.imagecomics.com.
The day-and-date titles available as of Wednesday, October 5, are as follows:
Chew
The Infinite
Severed
The Last of the Greats
Marksmen
Moriarty
Pilot Season
Red Spike
Red Gunther
SkullKickers
The Strange Talent of Luther Strode
Vescell
There’s a lot of great stuff there, but what’s notably missing is Invincible by Robert Kirkman, which was also released Wednesday. But nonetheless, this is a pretty big step for one of the top three comic book publishing companies, and I’m certain this will be more yet another shot in the arm of other publishing companies to get with the program when it comes to digital presence.
