NBC Orders TV Pilot For Comic Book Series ‘The Sixth Gun’

We reported a while ago that Lost co-showrunner Carlton Cuse was planning to bring the Oni Press comic book series The Sixth Gun to TV, and now we can report that, according to Deadline, NBC has officially ordered a pilot for the series. This is a good next step for the series which follows the adventures of Drake Sinclair and Becky Montcrief as they travel the wild west, trying to keep six supernatural pistols out of the hands of those who would use the guns to end the world.
The next step for the series will be assembling the cast and crew and getting the pilot on film. The Sixth Gun will be another in a growing number of comic properties coming to television. The pilot for the Marvel comics S.H.E.I.L.D. show for ABC is filming now. We’re still waiting to see what the status is on FX’s Powers show (based on the Image comic from Brian Bendis and Mike Oeming) which has gone through a number of issues, but still seems to be very much alive. There’s also the rumored Chew show (based on another Image comic by John Layman and Rob Guillory) set to air on Showtime.

Whhaaaaat?!!? You remember me, right? Well, I apologize for the lack of fac3 (faceless?) time on these here websites. A lot has changed recently and Tuesdays and Wednesdays have become even busier for me recently, what with the new job and all… (pausing for congratulatory high fives), so I’ve been away for like a week or something and some have said that I phoned in the previous week’s, but to those people (HENCHMAN!!!), I say this, “I’m back, BABAY!” And there have been some truly amazing comic books over the last few weeks. Did you guys read Creator Owned Heroes? I may be jumping the gun a little bit since it’s only been one issue, but I honestly think it could be a game changer. And while this week may not be jam packed full of potential game-changers, there’s some really good stuff to look forward to. So, follow me past the break, so that we can talk about all the great comics that are coming out this week. This is The GoD List, after all.

Nothing means nothing. Nothing means nothing, man. No more, I’m talking about all the way to the top, yeah. I’m justifiably in a position that I’d rather not be in, I’m in a position to tell all you readers, yeah, that there are a whole lot of comics coming out this week, yeah, and every comic site has their say. But the cream will rise to THE TOP, oh yeah, GoD Madness has got more to offer in the way of great comics, yeah, than any of those other comic sites think we have. Now, the card’s stacked against every book that we pick this week, yeah, but let me say it, let me say it OUT LOUD that MK2Fac3 and Henchman21 are not happy with your decision to not buy all of these books that we suggest, yeah. WE ARE THE CREAM in weekly comics suggestions and there is no doubt about it, yeah. You, dear reader, you know that The GoD List is the CREAM OF THE CROP!

The GoD List: Comics For April 4, 2012

Each and every week “YES! YES! YES!” MK2Fac3 and “Love Him or Hate Him” Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of their pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of April 4, 2012. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.
Well, so a lot of things have happened over the past week. Most of them happened at WrestleMania. You see, Daniel Bryan, Sheamus, and all of the fans got screwed out of a really good, fun match when WWE booked the match to end in 18 seconds. I know most of you don’t really care about wrestling (I actually don’t know that), but you should check out Daniel Bryan’s stuff on YouTube. Dude’s phenomenal! Anyway, now that the customary wrestling talk is out of the way, let’s address comics! Comics? Yes, comics, Hunter. There’s a whole lot of freaking books coming out this week that are newsworthy. Firstly, let’s address that this is the cancellation month for DC books, so if you’re one of the 50 people reading OMAC, you won’t be reading that anymore. Scott McDaniel and myself won’t be reading Static Shock anymore, and I’m pretty sure no one was still reading Mr. Terrific or Blackhawks anyway, but those books are gone as well. Along with these books, Men of War is getting cancelled, too, and it’s getting replaced with a war book in what I can only assume is a way to stop Viktor Kalvachev from making amazing covers for DC books. Nonetheless, this week’s Men of War features a guest appearance by Frankenstein and it’s written by Jeff Lemire and Matt Kindt, so make sure that’s on your radar. Am I giving too much away in the intro? Maybe, but there’s still one more thing to hit on. What was it…? Hmm…. Oh yeah! Avengers vs. X-Men officially starts this week! So, if you want a complete rundown of this and all the other books you should be paying for and attention to, keep reading because that’s what The GoD List is all about, mother lovers.
