Each and every week, I, “Mr. Freeze”, and “Captain Cold” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of January 22, 2014. It’s another jam packed week with tons of new series from Marvel (All-New Invaders, Image (Deadly Class), DC (Harley Quinn #2), and the return of The Unwritten from Vertigo with Unwritten Vol. 2 Apocalypse #1. There’s also the end of a much loved series (at least by me) with the final issue of FF (FF #16). So you’ve got that, plus new issues of Mind MGMT, a great jumping-on point for Valiant’s Eternal Warrior, as well as the first trade for the same series. And then we’ve got the books below which are all more than worth your time and money, so let’s dive on in to an all new GoD List!

You’ve all heard the story of Midas, the man with the golden touch (not to be confused with Goldfinger, who was also the man with the golden touch)? Imagine a world where not only was Midas a real person, but also where everything Midas touched turned to gold; not just cups and food, but the very earth beneath him, and even the air he breathed. Imagine he turned the entire world into gold. Now imagine you’re an space traveler in the future and you hear a legend of a planet that is basically one big ball of gold. Such is the world presented in The Midas Flesh from BOOM! Studios.

The first issue introduced readers to Fatty and the rest of his crew, as they look for the source of power that transformed the world. In this second issue, we learn more about the crew, why they’re looking for Midas, and what they plan to do once they find it.
