After the unwatchable mess that was Dumb and Dumber prequel Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd, no one expected to hear from the once lovable losers anymore.

But now comes word that Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly are not done with the characters quite yet. It’s being reported that now that the brother filmmakers have finished up work on their long-coming The Three Stooges, they hope to make a proper sequel to the 1994 comedy hit, and this time they hope to do so with stars Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels reprising their roles.

It’s unknown whether Carrey and Daniels will actually return, but apparently Carrey has talked about the possible sequel, and it’s assumed that if the pair aren’t willing to return there is no sequel to be made.

Writers have already been hired to pen the script in Sean Anders and John Morris. The team has worked together previously on the scripts for Sex Drive, She’s Out of My League, Hot Tub Time Machine, and the Jim Carrey family comedy Mr. Popper’s Penguins. Anders also directed Sex Drive and he and Morris are co-directing the upcoming Adam Sandler comedy I Hate You, Dad.

If all goes to plan, the Farelly brothers hope to make Dumb and Dumber 2 their next project.
