Prepare yourself for the coming Armageddon folks, because Kevin Eastman announced on Monday that he is bringing back Heavy Metal Magazine in December to bring us Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
Originally slated as a video game for the 3DO, this project has been wrought with misfortune. As a game, the project never seemed to get of the ground after 3DO’s collapse. There were some rumors and hints that the project was still alive. And with Eastman’s help, Michael Mendheim and company, including would-be gamers, will finally see this project come to life. In the form of a comic book mini-series.
Based on the apocalyptic concept foretold in The Bible, Mendheim, the writer and video game developer, will be taking this Armageddon story to the pages of a 3 issue limited series. The first chapter, entitled Hell Diver, will be released around Christmas 2011, which is unquestionably the perfect time for a story like this, while the final issues are set to be released in spring/summer of 2012. The comic promises to be a dark and gritty book inspired by world-ending Biblical events and with the interior art of Simon Bisley, I have no doubt that will be the case. Bisley’s preview pages, which they have here, and the concept art for the video game are both absolutely breathe taking, so hopefully all goes well with this comic about the end of the world.
Also, head over to MTV Geek! where they have a video game-style trailer for the new comic. You can also pre-order your copy now, and for more information on the book including character bios, an art gallery and more, make you way to to their official site that was launched on Halloween night.
Four Horsemen of The Apocalypse: Hell Diver is scheduled for a Christmas 2011 release.
