A specially trained squad of guinea pigs is dispatched to stop a diabolical billionaire from taking over the world.

G-Force is a harmless family film which sticks to an established formula that appeals to a mass audience. Kids will enjoy the talking animals and the action/epsionage plot. Adults will enjoy seeing and hearing from some of their favorite hollywood actors and actresses. It’s revealed in the special features that the director’s five-year-old son was the mastermind behind the film. Don’t expect too much cinematic depth here. Do expect a new Black Eyed Peas song every five minutes though.

The 3D is well done, for the most part, although I did notice occasional ghosting but nothing too severe. You’ll see a combination of added depth shots and pop out moments that immerse you in the guinea pigs’ world. Not the best 3D has to offer but also not the worst. Special features are nice but nothing here warrants an upgrade to the 3D disc if you already own the DVD or Blu-ray. This is one for the 3D completionists out there who must own everything coming out in 3D now.

Official Synopsis: Armed with the latest high-tech spy equipment, a covert team of highly trained guinea pigs discover that the fate of the world is in their paws. Tapped for the G-Force are guinea pigs Darwin, the squad leader determined to succeed at all costs; Blaster, an outrageous weapons expert with tons of attitude and a love for all things extreme; and Juarez, a sexy martial arts pro; plus the literal fly-on-the-wall reconnaissance expert Mooch, and a star-nosed mole Speckles, the computer and information specialist.

Special Features

Cine-Explore Mode: Director Hoyt Yeatman helms an extensive Picture-in-Picture experience loaded with pre-effects video footage, behind-the-scenes featurettes, scene breakdowns, early animatics, and various CG dissections.

Inside the Animation Lab (HD, 8 minutes): Yeatman and Bruckheimer praise the film’s special effects, give a tour of Imageworks’ animation department, and chat about the work that went into developing and rendering the film’s animals and more elaborate machines.

Deleted Scenes (HD, 6 minutes): Six deleted/alternate/extended scenes that, despite being presented HD, look terrible.

Blaster’s Boot Camp (HD, 5 minutes): Blaster tells you how to become a member of G-Force, and provides an overview of the gadgets cleared agents have access to for various missions.

G-Force Mastermind (HD, 4 minutes): A featurette on Hoyt Yateman IV, son of director Hoyt Yeatman and the original creator of the film’s concept and characters.

Bruckheimer Animated (HD, 3 minutes): Basically an Extended Press Kit hosted by Yeatman the Elder that looks at producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s use of CG over the years.

G-Farce (HD, 2 minutes): The usual DVD outtakes with actors cracking up at various times.

Music Videos (HD, 8 minutes): Flo Rida’s “Jump,” Steve Rushton’s “Ready to Rock,” and the guinea pigs’ “Go G-Force” song.

Vactor’s Verdict:
The film gets a 2 out of 5.
The 3D Blu-ray gets a 3 out of 5.

Note: The G-Force 3D Blu-ray Combo Pack is currently part of a SALE where you can order any two Disney titles on Blu-ray 3D and Save $10 from now through November 13, 2011.
