Now here is a film to get excited about.
While the vocal majority may have found the team of David Fincher and writer Eric Roth to have produced underwhelming results with The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, the film is one of this writer’s favorite films of the past few years, and is the sole reason why this is one of the best bits of news in some time.
Variety is reporting that the pair are set to take on the film Cleopatra.Â
A big budget take on the novel recently penned by Stacy Schiff, the film has been worked on for quite some time now, with an original script penned by Brian Helgeland. James Cameron and Paul Greengrass were originally eyed to take on the project at some point in time, but it now appears as though it has fallen into the more than capable hands of Fincher/Roth.
As a fan of their first outing together, and as a fan of Fincher in general, I think this could be a wonderful project for Fincher to take on.  His style doesn’t quite suit the epic at first glance, but if you think about how he uses the frame, how he is so meticulous with his direction, it becomes clear that this is the next logical step for the filmmaker. Count me the hell in.
What do you think?
