Get Ready To Go Back To Smallville With ‘Smallville: The Complete Series’ Box Set

Smallville Header

Ready to revisit Smallville High yet? And now that Smallville: The Complete Series is out today, I’m wanting to go back more than ever before.

The 62-disc box set boasts 192 hours of material, which includes all 218 episodes and over 5 hours of brand new content. And that new content is pretty freaking sweet. What they’re offering here is a never-before-seen Superboy pilot shot in 1961, a look back at the series with over 100 minutes of material, a decade of comic con featurette, and so much more, including DC’s Secret Origin documentary.

But that’s not all. I mean, that’s a lot of great stuff to watch and everything, and would give any casual fan the desire to purchase something like this, but it’s got a $340 list price tag, and that price tag screams collector (luckily, the price online is only $199.99).

So what does this box set have to offer the hardcore, collecting fan like myself? Well sir or madame, I thought you’d never ask. This box set comes with the incredible awesome bonus of a physical copy of The Daily Planet, and in this edition of The Daily Planet, the premiere newspaper of the DC Universe, DC Comics writers highlight the major story lines throughout the show’s 10 season run. That’s seriously awesome.

But anyway, there’s so much more to get yourself excited about this box set, so why don’t I run down all of the details? Let’s do it!

SPECIAL FEATURES

  • The Adventures of Superboy – the original 1961 pilot
  • A Retrospective Look at The Series with over 100 Minutes of Season Featurettes – the first in-depth, season-by-season look at the creation of this landmark television series. Highlights include new interviews with Tom Welling, Eric Durance, Michael Rosenbaum, Allison Mack, Phil Morris, John Schneider and many more, as well as rare behind-the-scenes footage.
  • A Decade of Comic-Con featurette
  • Paley Fest 2004 Event
  • Aquaman Pilot
  • Secret Origin: The American Story of DC Comics
  • The Making of a Milestone – Expanded Version of the 100TH Episode (Season 5)
  • A Daily Planet newspaper written by DC Comics that highlights the important storylines developed during the 10-year run of the show
  • Episode guide with never-before-released on DVD production art and behind the scenes photos

The other cool thing to note is that, unlike a lot of other shows, this complete series box set is being released alongside the Smallville: The Complete Tenth Season DVD and Blu-ray box set. Unfortunately for me, though, The Complete Series will only be released on DVD, but that’s okay. I still desperately want it.

Smallville: The Complete Series and Smallville: The Complete Tenth Season will be available in stores on November 29. Just in time for Christmas. Make note of that, parents and wife.

  1. I wonder if they will ever release it on Blu-ray, although even if they don’t I’m still interested in checking out the special features.
