Rumblings of a movie based on the hit FOX TV drama, 24, have come and gone from time to time, but not a whole lot of movement has occurred. Now it appears speeds are picking up quickly with sources indicating that 20th Century Fox and Imagine Entertainment hope to begin production by next spring when star Kiefer Sutherland becomes available.
The studio is expecting a script from screenwriter Mark Bomback by the end of the year, and they’ve reportedly narrowed down their director search to five possible (and currently unnamed) candidates.
Bomback is a busy man lately, having handled the scriptwriting duties for numerous upcoming titles including Jack the Giant Killer, Total Recall, and The Wolverine. His previous credits include Live Free or Die Hard, Race to Witch Mountain, and Unstoppable.
No details are known yet on what storyline the movie will follow, but it’s safe to assume that asses shall be kicked.
Do you hope the 24 movie continues a certain storyline from the show, or are you looking for for an original story?
