Say what you will about funny man Russell Brand, the guy is a popular one in Hollywood.

Variety is reporting that Brand has joined the cast of the upcoming horror comedy at Paramount and Platinum Dunes, The Hauntrepreneur.

The film follows the story of a man who builds a haunted house in the hopes of bringing a troubled family back together after their move to a new town.

Penned by Con-Air scribe Scott Rosenberg, The Hauntrepreneur has the makings of an awful film, that is after all what the writer appears to be best known for, and as a person who finds Brand rather grating, hopes aren’t all that high. Toss in a premise that seems like it will be tough to mine for anything remotely interesting, and you have a film that couldn’t be any less exciting. Oh, and it’s Platinum Dunes, so Michael Bay will be involved.
