It’s been almost a month since Universal Studios Home Entertainment made the big announcement that Steven Spielberg‘s classic killer shark horror-adventure Jaws would be making it’s long-anticipated debut on Blu-ray later this summer.
Today the studio has released a trailer for the upcoming release. You can watch it here below.
The original – and still one of the best – summer blockbuster event movie is getting a complete video and audio upgrade for its Blu-ray bow. The film has undergone a full frame by frame digital restoration from original 35mm film elements and the soundtrack has been extensively remastered in DTS-HD 7.1 Master Audio, all supervised and approved by Spielberg himself.
The Blu-ray will be available in a combo pack along with DVD, digital, and UltraViolet copies and over four hours of bonus features, including new documentaries and previously released extras. Among the new extras are a featurette about the film’s restoration and The Shark Is Still Working: The Impact & Legacy of Jaws, a fan-made retrospective documentary featuring fresh interviews with Spielberg and many of Jaws‘ cast and crew as well as its most ardent fans.
I knew this was the best time to invest in a Blu-ray player. Jaws is one of my favorite movies and I can’t wait to see how it looks in shimmering high-definition.
You can own the Jaws Blu-ray beginning on August 14, 2012. The title is currently available for pre-order here.
